Artist Bio LAC Julie E Hunt
Since my youth I have dabbled in art most of my life, as my family nurtured the arts in our home when I took some courses at the DVSA Dundas Valley School of Art in my hometown of Dundas, Ontario both in my youth and more recently in a botanical art course. In Edmonton I enjoyed the community arts program with drawing and pottery.
I have been in Lethbridge since 1998 as well as in some intermittent years before that, having graduated from LCC Lethbridge Community College in nursing where I took an art course in painting with acrylics. In 2008 I joined the newly formed Art Group at Lethbridge First Baptist Church now “First B Artists” and learned watercolour under the tutelage of Bob McNabb and drawing with retired U of Lethbridge art professor, Larry Weaver, both members of First B.
While watercolours are my first medium, in 2015 I also took up working in watermixable oils. During the pandemic I experimented with several different media along with the 100 Days Art Group.
Painting and drawing are my passions—after family and friends. As well as being a newer member of LAC I am a very active member of First B Artists. Creativity is a joy we are blessed with, as is being an “eternal learner”. LAC members have been an inspiration as well as being teachers. Grateful! 🙂
