Merri-Ann began watercolor painting in 1991 and has recently started developing works in colored pencil. She has always had an interest in art but only found the additional time to pursue her interest following retirement.
A lifelong learner, Merri-Ann has studied watercolor under the tutelage of a variety of artists. Jill Malloy, The Studio Lethbridge, has been mentoring Merri-Ann since the early 1990’s. Margaret Best, renowned botanical artist, Calgary. Cecilia Jurgens C.S.P.W.C., landscape artist, Saskatoon. As well she takes classes offered through the Lethbridge Artists Club and Lethbridge Senior Center.
Using the skills learned in watercolor she is teaching herself colored pencil. Her artist style in both media involves attention to detail.
Merri-Ann has shown her work in a number of locations around Lethbridge and district. In 2018 she entered the Alberta Community Art Clubs Association (A.C.A.C.A) juried competition where she won the Lillian Nunn Award for “In for a Landing”.
